Camaret to Brest

The swell curling into the anchorage at Camaret was giving us a few sleepless nights so in an early morning conversation with Paul it appeared we had both come up with the same solution which was to shift around the Presque Isle de Querlen peninsular to an anchorage off Rosconvell. Paul left early and Lynne and I had to find Aquila in the Marina where Jimmy and Shari had moved the previous day to escape the swell. They had my pilot to the west coast of France. Once retrieved we bumped into Paul Heiney and Libby Purvis getting into their dinghy at the pontoons, there boat Windsong being on a mooring. Paul is a fellow OCC member however my celebrity avoidance preference prevented me from introducing myself.
We motored the few miles to the anchorage chiefly to charge the batteries.
It was a fascinating if short trip through the Goulet de Brest. We anchored just near Ti-Gitu just of a lovely wooded beach.

To-Gitu really is a great boat, as well as building her Paul also designed her. Useful man to know!

In the morning Paul and Mo were heading off to the little village of Chatelaine up the Aulne river and canal.

We however had decided it was time to finally sort out the navigation lights and  one or two other things not least of which was to acquire some paper charts for the next part of our voyage, although we have comprehensive electronic charts we always like to have conventional charts as a back up and also for planning as it's difficult to maintain detail when you zoom out on an electronic chart and it's obviously limited at big scales on a 7 inch screen. We like paper charts!
We definitely needed the plotter to navigate the channel into the Moulin Blanc Marina, it was very foggy and visibility was down to 4-500 metres, again our AIS system proved invaluable in the busy channel. We slid into the narrow approach which is well buoyed and moored up faultlessly even if I do say so myself!

The Marina has everything we need for the next few days including access by bus to the city of Brest itself. We have established where is our favourite bar ( it's the Trimaran Bar in town )

The owner is very friendly and we are feeling very relaxed, so relaxed we actually went to the beach for a swim this afternoon.

Unfortunately the fishing boat restaurant was closed for refurbishment, or a bonfire, who knows....
We have also been joined by Jimmy and Shari , the Aquilas, so all is right with the world.
